Parenting as an act of raising or nurturing a child ranges from infancy to adulthood. It is a secret call and must be seen and treated as such.
We have productive parenting which is the parenting that yields positive results. In the christian circle or family, productive parenting should include the bringing up of children in the fear and knowledge of God.
Now I have a scriptural backup on this. In Genesis 1 vs 27 - 28 the bible said So God created a man in His own image; in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them. Then God blessed them, and said to them, "be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it".
Going by this scripture, God created man and woman, that is, a husband and wife to bring forth children and nurture them. This assignment is not only for mothers but for fathers as well. This divine mandate carries with it lots of responsibilities, hence husband and wife must be determined to do it with absolute dependence, trust and faith in God.
LET'S LOOK AT PARENTING AS A CALL OF GOD.
Parenting is a call from God. Parents are called into the ambassadorial ministry of child nurturing which means that the children do not belong to me, they belong to God and my calling is to make the invisible presence, grace, power, and authority of God visible in the children.
Being an ambassador means you have to look on God's face, turn off your voice and use the touch of Gods hands. Parents are called not only to nurture their children to become independent and functioning adults, but to impart in them spiritual legacy. One of my greatest fear is that parents are not investing the time and energy it takes to live a spiritual legacy for their children.
For better or for worse, you as a parent are your children role model for faith! the average parents simply does not take a proactive role in building up the spiritual lives of their children. We may spend thousands of naira and hundreds of hours on things that we think are more important issues such as vacations, business plans, and home improvement. But when it comes to spiritual values, we often allow circumstances and chances to affect how we manage our family life and especially that of our calling as parents.
GODLY PARENTING; now you can go ahead and ask this question; HOW DO I GO ABOUT IT?

Before you can become a godly parents, you must first of all develop a passionate relationship with God which is very essential in parenting. Knowing God intimately and accepting him as Lord and Saviour makes this easier and rewarding. Children are the heritage of God and to successfully understand and nurture them perfectly, you must know their creator.
When we talk about parenting we are not only talking to parents with children we're also talking to potential parents..
As a young lady, as a young man where ever you are, try to learn something that will give you much knowledge on how to train kids in the way of the Lord, how to train them to be outstanding in the society, how to make them shine brighter like light even when they are in the midst of darkness.
And remember uninvolved parenting can do serious harm to the psychological and even physical well-being of teens.
Its impact shouldn't be taken lightly.
